In May 2019, HK began an effort to make at least one painting (start to finish) every single day. HK's daily paintings are meant to be quick exercises; if a painting takes more than 10-15 minutes to complete, it is not counted as daily work. It is HK's hope that this daily painting record will become a resource for better understanding artistic development and artistic process.
This initiative is inspired by daily “art challenges” that have gained popularity on social media platforms. HK’s daily work also draws inspiration from the prevalence of daily vlogs/video streaming and from YouTube time-lapse portraiture created through day-by-day image records (see "Lotte" and "Jordan").
